EB-2 is for Esperanza Bass with 2 pickups. I would have called it Pancho but when you order an instrument at our workshop you can give it a name. And it makes sense because it is also got some inspiration by the Gibson with the same name.
But first things first: The client for this bass is the owner of the first Esperanza and he was looking for a semiacoustic bass for a while that does not only have this „pokpok“-sound as most of the Höfner violin basses do and also not a vintage instrument. So why not build a counterpart to the Esperanza?
The shape should be a little bit more classic, so we made it symmetrical and also made the waistline a bit wider but it still has some of the vibes of the Esperanza. Sonically, he wanted the warmth of a Gibson neck humbucker and the crispness of a jazzbass. So we decided for Häussel Jazzbuckers. The bridge-coil of each pickup is in the typical JB-position. Each pickup is splitable via push-pull-tone-knobs, so the sounds are very versatile.
The light semiacoustic body, that I made a bit stiffer than the Esperanza, and the medium scale of 813mm make a typical semiacoustic tone: a fast attack but a very warm sound.
