The customer who ordered this guitar, initially wanted to buy the first Susi, but he waited too long, because it got stolen. But years later, he wanted to make himself a birthday present with a guitar like this and now we could do some little changes to the design.
Since the body wood – swamp ash – is gorgeous, we decided to drop the pickguard. The neck is 5-piece maple and padouk and the fretboard rosewooden, like the original, but we put his year of birth as a mother of pearlen inlay into the 12th fret and redesigned the headstock so the strings go straight to the tuners and it looks a little slimmer.
The next thing was changing the archtop-style tailpiece to a stop tailpiece to push the rock sound. The Häussel Tele-style singlecoil and the Schaller Golden 50 humbucker provide a very variable rock sound, enhanced by the wiring: The 5-way bladeswitch has these positions: 1. neck singlecoil; 2. neck singlecoil + splitted bridge humbucker in parallels; 3. bridge humbucker in parallel mode; 4. bridge humbucker in series mode; 5. bridge humbucker and neck singlecoil in series – this makes the guitar roar!
